MINSK, Jun 2 (PRIME) -- Russia can cede a part of the Ust-Luga port terminals in the Leningrad Region to Belarus to achieve the speediest start of shipments, Governor Alexander Drozdenko told newswire Belta on Thursday after a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

"Simultaneously (with construction of port terminals), we can use the existing terminals. We have named several terminals which are ready to sign agreements up to cession of some territories, some port capacities for management of the Belarusian side to start shipments today," Drozdenko said.

The official also said that Belarus could build its own port capacities in the region soon.

The Lithuanian government annulled on January 12 an agreement on transit of Belarusian fertilizers due to the U.S. sanctions on Belaruskali.
